Our Favorite Trip of 2018

Let me start by saying that we take more beach vacations than adventure vacations. Our lives are busy. So we truly appreciate the opportunity to curl up in a lounge chair and relax on the beach.

But our favorite trip we took in 2018 was not a beach vacation. And this particular trip was not even a bit relaxing. It was go, go and go some more. But we would do it all over again.

Iceland…..Iceland was out favorite trip of 2018. And we fell in love with this small island in the North Atlantic.

The land of fire and ice has become a tourism hot spot over the past couple of years. And after visiting ourselves, it is no wonder tourists are flocking to this beautiful, diverse and colorful island.

We spent five days in Iceland. And it felt like we drove the entire island (not quite). But we spent a ton of time in the car driving. Driving to see volcanoes, caves, waterfalls, lava fields, black sand beaches and glaciers. There’s no where quite like it. You can’t even blink because the minute you do, you’ll miss another beautiful, incredible feature tucked away in the green landscape.

And despite the fact that we saw dozens of waterfalls and dozens of rainbows, they never got old.

Iceland’s capital of Reykjavik didn’t disappoint either. The hotels were so cute. The food was good. And the people were friendly.

So despite the fact that we were walking on black sand beaches in mist rather than lying on a tropical beach with a cocktail, Iceland was hands down our favorite trip of 2018. And we can’t wait to go back. And on the next trip, hopefully catch a glimpse of those elusive Northern Lights.
