Boulders Resort & Spa - Shame On You

The Boulders Resort & Spa is the the one and only hotel or resort in Hilton Honors that doesn't offer complimentary breakfast to Hilton Honors Gold & Diamond members. How? Why?

Denying Benefits

Back in May when we were planning a trip to Scottsdale, we reached out to the Boulders Resort & Spa to see what their benefits were. One of the benefits of being a Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond member is getting complimentary breakfast. And while this costs a hotel or resort almost nothing, it's a great benefit that we truly appreciate. Breakfast gets us started each day, and we can save money for nicer dinners. But we were surprised to get an email back from the Boulders Resort & Spa that they simply refuse to honor this benefit to Gold & Diamond members.

In the past, Hilton Honors exempted Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts from the breakfast requirement. But even that has changed. Every single property in the Hilton Honors, no matter what brand they fall in, offers some type of breakfast benefit. Except Boulders.

Since we ran into this issue earlier this year, numerous other Hilton Honors members have brought up the topic on FlyerTalk. The resort offers two welcome drinks instead of breakfast. But again, that's not the terms and conditions of being a Gold or Diamond member. What about guests who don't drink? It's a shameful policy. And it's a shame that our favorite loyalty program, Hilton Honors, is letting this luxury resort get away with skirting the terms and conditions of the loyalty program.

Our opinion

Until the Boulders decides to play fair and follow the terms and conditions, choose another resort in the Scottsdale area like the Arizona Biltmore, a Waldorf Astoria resort. There are plenty of other options in the Hilton Honors portfolio in the Scottsdale area.
