Fairmont Pacific Rim
We enjoy staying at Fairmont Hotels. And we've come to expect great service with luxurious accommodations when staying at Fairmont properties. The Fairmont Pacific Rim is no exception. In fact, the Pacific Rim easily takes a top spot on our list of favorite hotels. The Pacific Rim is a flagship property for Fairmont. The hotel opened just prior to the 2010 Olympics and is housed in a a beautifully massive 47 floor skyscraper. The Pacific Rim occupies the first 22 floors of the building with 367 Guest Rooms.
Fairmont Pacific Rim
The Fairmont Pacific Rim is located in downtown Vancouver, conveniently situated along Vancouver's vibrant waterfront area. The hotel is a few blocks from the cruise ship terminal. When you see the hotel and enter the hotel lobby, you'll almost immediately notice that this Fairmont is different than most. The hotel has a much more sleek and modern design compared to many of the more historical Fairmont hotels (like the Fairmont Empress).
The lobby of the Pacific Rim features a very open and high ceiling lobby. The lobby is made up of beautiful expanses of Italian Bianco Statuario marble on the floor and walls.
The Room
The hotel offers spacious guestrooms with lavish appointments, naturally inspired materials, comfortable furnishings and impressive technology. In fact the rooms have so much technology, it can actually be a bit overwhelming. The higher floors enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Coal Harbour, Stanley Park and the North Shore Mountains.
We stayed in a junior king suite. This particular room has a sitting area overlooking the Harbour and City Skyline with incredible views, a king bed, desk and working area and a large spa bathroom. Each guestroom has a tablet which is loaded with a virtual concierge that can be used for in-room dining orders, housekeeping requests, and arranging airport transfers. And the tablet gives access to a press reader with more than 3,500 newspapers and magazines.
Other guestroom amenities include luxury linens, a Stearns & Foster king-sized bed, media connectivity panel, Nespresso coffeemaker and a wall-mounted 42 inch LCD television with surround-sound.
The spa bathroom is incredible with a large walk-in shower, soaking tub, toilet, large vanity including a built in television-mirror.
The bathrooms are also stocked with plush bathrobes and oversized Mascioni bath towels.
Bathroom toiletries from Le Labo New York, some of our favorite, are also replenished daily.
Dining
There are three great dining options at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, all three serving terrific food. The first Giovane’s market, is a cafe style deli which has its own street entrance and serves bakery style items, house-cured meats, pastas, and more.
The RawBar, which is located adjacent to the lobby lounge, is a sushi bar which serves up seafood, sushi and cocktails. The RawBar is Vancouver’s first 100 percent Ocean Wise sushi restaurant. The sushi at the RawBar is by far some of the best we've had!
For a true taste of the Pacific Northwest cuisine, you can indulge in the fine-dining experience of Botanist. While we did not eat dinner at Botanist, we did enjoy breakfast in the restaurant. As you would expect at a Fairmont property restaurant, the food, service and overall experience were excellent.
Amenities
The Fairmont Pacific Rim has a full list of great on-site amenities which will make your stay even more relaxing and enjoyable.
The Willow Stream Spa, which is located on the hotel’s 5th floor, is the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The Spa offers nine treatment areas. Those include a couples’ room with deep Japanese Zen tub, a Nail Spa, and an outdoor deck featuring private jacuzzis, an infrared sauna, and meditation pods. Next to the spa is the hotel fitness center which offers a wide range of fitness equipment.
One of the best features of the Fairmont Pacific Rim is their incredible rooftop outdoor patio. Located on the 6th floor and open year round, the patio has both a heated pool and hot tub. We can only imagine that on a beautiful day in Vancouver, there is no better place to be than here. From May through October, drinks are also served at the poolside cabana bar.
Members of the Fairmont President's Club can enjoy complimentary downtown luxury BMW hotel car service. This service features beautiful, luxurious BMW 7 series vehicles which are available on a first come-first serve basis. And of course it enables you to arrive in style as the friendly and professional drivers whisk you away to restaurants, shopping and coffee shops located in the Downtown area.
Final Thoughts
The Fairmont Pacific Rim is an incredibly luxurious, modern and well located hotel in Vancouver. And it is easily one of our favorite hotels we've stayed at. If you visit Vancouver (which you should), you definitely should treat yourself to a stay at the Pacific Rim.
