Over Labor Day Weekend we visited New York City and stayed at three Hilton Hotels over the long weekend, the new Hilton Brooklyn, the Conrad New York City and The Renwick, a Curio Collection hotel.

Check-In

Our first night's stay in New York City was at the Hilton Brooklyn, which just opened in December of 2016. Our first night in New York City was a short night as our flight didn't arrive at JFK until almost midnight. While we didn't arrive at the hotel until just after 1:00 AM, the front desk attendant was friendly and very prompt getting us checked in. Due to our diamond status with Hilton Honors, we were upgraded to the Executive Floor and had access to the Executive Lounge. The lounge is open 24 hours a day with breakfast served between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM. We hadn't had a chance to grab any dinner so we stopped in the executive lounge to grab a bottle of water, yogurt and granola bar, so that was definitely convenient.

The Room

When we arrived in our room, it was a bit on the small side, but that is typical of New York City hotels. Otherwise, the room was beautiful and well appointed with a desk, chair, king size bed and small closet area.

The bathroom was also a bit on the small side, but still comfortable and featured a walk-in shower. As typical with most Hilton Hotels, the Hilton Brooklyn offered Peter Thomas Roth toiletries.

The Food

Breakfast was included for Hilton Honors Gold & Diamond members and was served in the Executive Lounge. The breakfast featured your typical continental offerings such as fruit, pastries and cereal but also had a few hot items like scrambled eggs and bacon. The breakfast wasn't the best breakfast we've ever had at a Hilton, but it definitely did the job.

The Hilton Brooklyn does have an on site restaurant. The restaurant is called Black Walnut and is ran by local chef Rob Newton. While we didn't get to try out the restaurant, the restaurant and lounge area felt very inviting and comfortable.

Overall, we were very impressed with the Hilton Brooklyn and we would stay at this property again. The hotel is close to restaurants and coffee shops in Downtown Brooklyn, shopping on Atlantic Avenue and only about 6 blocks from the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
