The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club and Spa is located in Carlsbad California, which is just outside of San Diego. Perhaps one of the most notable things about the Park Hyatt Aviara is the physical location and surroundings of this beautiful resort. The Park Hyatt Aviara is perched high up on a ridge that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. And the views are absolutely stunning. The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort and Spa is a Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond luxury destination. And the resort is just close enough to San Diego but far enough away for a relaxing and unique experience.

The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa

If you are looking for a luxury, home away from home, then the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa might just be the answer. This all encompassing resort has plenty of things to do, places to eat and luxury amenities. This romantic and charming Spanish-style resort has a bit of colonial flare. And another appealing aspect of this resort is they are completely pet-friendly. Madi definitely appreciated that!

Upon our arrival at the Park Hyatt Aviara we were quickly greeted by a bell-men and assisted with our luggage and getting checked-into the resort.

Our Room

The resort is a fairly large property with just over 325 guest rooms. And the hotel is quite spread out with big long hallways. That' might be one of our only complaints. But you’ll at least get some exercise each day nonetheless.

During our stay at the Park Hyatt Aviara we stayed in one of the King Bed Panoramic View Rooms. And these rooms are very spacious with a private furnished balcony, and marble bath equipped with both a walk-in shower and a soaking tub.

The rooms are obviously Spanish inspired but with that colonial flare. The rooms were very functional and romantic in character with very traditional luxury furniture and decor.

The Park Hyatt Aviara was just acquired by Xenia Hotels & Resorts. And the new owner has said they will begin improving the resort. So we are hopeful that this means the rooms will be updated to make this resort even better than it already is. The rooms definitely could use a little bit of updating, but again, the resort is luxurious and beautiful.

The King Panoramic View Room had plenty of natural light coming in from the big sliding door. Since the resort sits so high up on a ridge, the view from our room was incredible! The private balcony was a very nice place to rest and take in the view. In fact we could see the ocean from our balcony!

Park Hyatt Hotels & Resorts feature Le Labo products, which if you didn’t know happen to be our favorite hotel toiletries.

Dining

The Park Hyatt Aviara has 5 restaurants plus 24-hour room-service on property. During our stay we had the opportunity to eat at 3 of the restaurants. Vivace, is a AAA Four-Diamond restaurant that serves fresh, homemade pasta daily. We had dinner there on Christmas Eve and the food was absolutely delicious. The flavors were so authentic. Plus the contemporary ambiance and the very attentive service made this dining experience one to remember.

Since it was Christmas Eve the chef had a pre-fix menu that gave a nice introduction to the restaurant. We first started off with a salad, then moved to the main course and lastly was dessert.

We eat at a lot of great restaurants around the globe and Vivace ranked high on our list of the most authentic Italian food we have ever eaten.

For breakfast we dined at California Bistro which has an amazing terrace that yield great views during breakfast or lunch. The breakfast buffet has plenty of options to get a healthy and nutritious breakfast or a not-so-healthy breakfast. Let’s just say they had quite the spread to choose from and they even let us order pancakes and waffles made fresh off the menu to go along with our breakfast.

One of the most notable things we were able to enjoy was afternoon tea in the Park Lounge. This royal experience left both of us wanting to enjoy afternoon tea more often. You might be thinking how could afternoon tea be anything more than a cup of tea. Let us be the first to tell you that it is much more than a cup of tea. In addition to tea, afternoon high tea is served with a selection of tea scones, savory sandwiches and sweet desserts. We would highly recommend making reservations for afternoon tea at the Park Hyatt Aviara or anywhere else you travel that offers it.

Amenities

The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa doesn’t lack for things to do and amenities to enjoy. You’ll find everything from a fitness center to two gorgeous outdoor pools, a game room, the luxurious spa and of course a world-class golf course.

The main pool is very secluded in the back of the resort with the same fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean. There is also an adults only pool which was very relaxing. Both of the pools are heated and have plenty of lounge chairs to soak up the sun.

The Aviara Spa features 15,000 square feet of space, 20 treatment rooms, an indoor solarium lounge, whirlpools, saunas and steam rooms. During our stay we enjoyed the facilities before and after a peppermint massage & back scrub. And the massage & back scrub was heavenly!

The indoor solarium lounge was a nice place to go relax as it was the perfect temperature and had plenty of natural daylight.

Since we have been traveling so much here lately, we really make a conscious effort to try to be active when we are away from home. The Fitness Center at the Park Hyatt Aviara had plenty of cardio equipment, machines and free weights to garner a great workout. The fitness center is on the smaller side for as large as the resort was. And it did feel crowded at times.

Service

The service is what you would expect it to be at a 5-Star Resort, and that is the case at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort & Spa. In fact, since we stayed here around Christmas, we asked the front desk if they had any Christmas decor they could bring so we could make it feel more like Christmas. Later that day, to our surprise they had brought a Christmas Tree to our room that was all decorated and plugged it in!

Overall Impression

The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort & Spa is a beautiful resort with excellent views and excellent service. If you are looking for a Southern California escape, then this is the place to be. There are plenty of things to do close by from the beach to shopping and all that San Diego has to offer but when you return to the resort you are able to relax and enjoy.
