Our Verdict

The Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage offers incredible service, luxury accommodations and breathtaking views. And a trip to the Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage located just a few miles from Palm Springs provides a perfect winter getaway. This luxe oasis in the desert is a great place to spend a long relaxing weekend.

Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage

Secluded from town and built into a hillside overlooking the Coachella Valley, the hotel’s design complements the surrounding landscape while offering gorgeous views of the desert and surrounding mountains.  The lobby of the Ritz Carlton has a luxurious and inviting feel. At check-in, we were offered glasses of champagne while we were waiting.

Our Room

Knowing we were celebrating our anniversary, we were upgraded to a room with a beautiful view of the desert. We also paid to upgrade to a room with club access (more on that below). The room was spacious with a large bedroom, large bathroom and patio. The patio offers a great chance to view the incredible mountains and desert.

The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, tub and a large vanity.

Like most Ritz Carlton properties, the Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage supplies guests with Asprey London's Purple Water toiletries.

DINING

The Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage has two dining options. State Fare presents farm-to-fork restaurant dining along with classic American cocktails and California wines. The burger we enjoyed at State Fare was incredible.

The second restaurant is a more upscale and luxury steakhouse. The Edge Steakhouse offers spectacular views from its dramatic cliff-side setting. And it serves up remarkable prime steak, seafood, classic side dishes, craft cocktails and an expertly curated selection of wines.

We did pay to upgrade our room to one that included club access. The Club Level at the Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage is definitely worth the cost to upgrade and includes three presentations.

We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and evening canapes and dessert in the club lounge. Drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, along with coffee are complimentary throughout the day. And the food presentations along with drink service were great.

AMENITIES

The Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage has two pool areas, an adult pool and a family style pool complex. The adult pool has incredible views overlooking the desert and the Coachella Valley.

The resort has a large spa and fitness complex. And a visit to the spa is a must! The facilities are top notch with separate waiting areas for him and her complete with therapeutic showers, steam rooms, saunas, reading rooms, an outdoor Jacuzzi and plunge pool. Access to the spa facilities for the entire day is included with any spa service and is also complimentary for Gold and Platinum Marriott Reward Members.

And the hotel offers a number of on-site activities for those looking to do more than relax by the pool and enjoy the spa. Each morning, a recreation attendant leads a two-mile hike along the Chuckwalla Trail near the property. It’s the perfect time to get outside to see the sunrise and beat the heat during summer months. While the trail is beautiful and moderate in difficulty, it offers incredible views of the Coachella Valley and San Jacinto Mountains.

Just outside the State Fare restaurant, a number of lawn games are laid out each day including corn hole, croquet and a few others. And for the cool desert evenings, there are fire pits located around the property.

Plus each afternoon the hotel puts out a candy bar in the lobby. Who doesn't love a candy bar?!?

Final Thoughts

The Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage is everything you would expect from a high end hotel or resort. And it's probably one of our favorite Ritz Carlton properties. Relaxing by the pool, sitting by the fire during the cool evenings, or enjoying delicious cuisine at one of the resort's restaurants, you won't go wrong choosing the Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage.
