Limelight Hotel Ketchum (Idaho)
Our Verdict
The Limelight Hotel Ketchum
Ketchum and Sun Valley, Idaho have a special place in our hearts since we did get married there back in September of 2016. And up until this past weekend, we hadn't been back until this past weekend. Not much has changed in Ketchum except for the addition of the Limelight Hotel.
Ketchum is a beautiful skiing community in the middle of the Sawtooth Mountain Range nestled along the Wood River in Central Idaho.
When we stayed in Ketchum during our wedding week in 2016, we stayed at the gorgeous and iconic Sun Valley Lodge. But we did notice that the new Limelight Hotel Ketchum was almost ready to open. The Limelight Hotel is dubbed "Sun Valley's newest modern luxury hotel".
So we decided that we needed a weekend getaway. Since Ketchum is only three hours from where we live in Boise, it would be a great opportunity to try out the new Limelight Hotel. And the Limelight is pet friendly, so Madi would get to come with us!
Location
The Limelight Hotel is located right on Main Street in Downtown Ketchum and is conveniently located to many of the Downtown Ketchum Bars and Restaurants.
Check-In
After arriving in Ketchum, we checked into the Limelight around 2:00 PM. We are elite members of the iPrefer Hotel Rewards Program (a hotel rewards system for independent and boutique hotels that are not affiliated with larger chains). We had mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary in Ketchum. Between that and our iPrefer elite status, we were upgraded to a gorgeous King Suite overlooking Downtow.
The lobby of the Limelight definitely has that modern feel. However the design and use of fireplaces, wooden beams and soft colors makes it feel warm and inviting. The lobby is connected to a lounge which features a full service bar and restaurant (which is also where there complimentary enhanced continental breakfast is served).
The Room
When we arrived in the room, not only was it beautiful and extremely spacious, the staff had a dog bed and food and water bowls waiting for Madi and a piece of chocolate cake for us.
As you enter the suite, the room is separated with a large and extremely convenient walk-in closet. On the left side of the closet was the living room which had a couch, two chairs and a lounge chair in addition to a small breakfast nook. The room also had a mini fridge and kitchenette.
On the right side of the closet is the bedroom featuring a very comfortable king size bed and two night stands.
The oversized spa like bathroom was beautiful. The bathroom not only had walk-in shower but also had a free standing bathtub.
Amenities
The hotel has an under-ground parking garage, which I'm sure would be extremely beneficial during the winter months with the snow and cold temperatures. The Limelight also has a fitness center and two heated outdoor hot tubs and an outdoor heated pool.
The Food
Breakfast, which was complimentary, was served in the lounge each morning. Breakfast included cereals, pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt, pancakes, juice and coffee. For a complimentary breakfast, we would have to say that the spread of food was definitely above average. Our only complaint was that the service was extremely slow. Food was continuously needing replenished and it would take ten to fifteen minutes to refill the scramble eggs, bacon, etc.
The Service
Other than some issues with breakfast, we were very pleased with the service at the Limelight. The concierge was extremely friendly and loved meeting Madi. The hotel staff took very good care of during our brief stay.
Overall Impression
Overall the Limelight Ketchum is a great addition to the Sun Valley/Ketchum area. The fact that the hotel is located Downtown and within walking distance of restaurants, bars and shopping is fantastic. The room was incredibly comfortable and we enjoyed the heated outdoor hot tubs. Plus the hotel was extremely pet friendly which made the weekend great for Madi.
